  • February 18, 2025 (Tuesday)

    Day 1 is an overview of what is involved in managing federal grants, the Uniform Grant Guidance
    rules (and other national policy requirements) that need to be followed, and the internal control
    framework that guides effective grant administration. There is also a focus on risk management
    and mitigation, and its importance in federal grants.

    Module 1: Getting Started with Federal Awards - Overview and Kickoff
    Hands-on activity: Reviewing sample notice of grant award and terms and conditions
    Module 2: The Importance of Risk Assessment, Mitigation, and Management - Overview of SAM.Gov Excluded Parties list
    Module 3: Internal Controls Requirements - Managing the Award

  • February 19, 2025 (Wednesday)
    Day 2 dives deeper into the grant administration process with an overview of key grant
    management activities, including time and effort reporting, financial and programmatic
    reporting, and drawdowns. We will also go into cost management and review the cost principles
    that are necessary for effective financial management of the award.

    Module 4: Grant Administration Processes - Demonstration: Completing a Federal Financial Report (FFR)
    Module 5: Defining Direct and Indirect Costs and Indirect Cost Rate Agreements -Review of SF-424A Completion and Indirect Cost Calculation
    Module 6: Allowable and Unallowable Costs Deep Dive and Summarizing Subpart E
  • February 20, 2025 (Thursday)
    Day 3 will focus mostly on procurement oversight issues, specifically related to contractor
    management and subrecipient monitoring. There will also be a review of property management,
    including equipment and supplies, and rules that govern these activities. Before finishing the
    session, there will be an overview of single audit preparation.
