  • February 18, 2025 (Tuesday)

    Day 1 is an overview of what is involved in managing federal grants, the Uniform Grant Guidance
    rules (and other national policy requirements) that need to be followed, and the internal control
    framework that guides effective grant administration. There is also a focus on risk management
    and mitigation, and its importance in federal grants.

    Module 1: Getting Started with Federal Awards - Overview and Kickoff

    Module 3: Internal Controls Requirements - Managing the Award

  • February 19, 2025 (Wednesday)
    Day 2 dives deeper into the grant administration process with an overview of key grant
    management activities, including time and effort reporting, financial and programmatic
    reporting, and drawdowns. We will also go into cost management and review the cost principles
    that are necessary for effective financial management of the award.

    Module 4: Grant Administration Processes - Demonstration: Completing a Federal Financial Report (FFR)
    Module 5: Defining Direct and Indirect Costs and Indirect Cost Rate Agreements -Review of SF-424A Completion and Indirect Cost Calculation
    Module 6: Allowable and Unallowable Costs Deep Dive and Summarizing Subpart E
  • February 20, 2025 (Thursday)
    Day 3 will focus mostly on procurement oversight issues, specifically related to contractor
    management and subrecipient monitoring. There will also be a review of property management,
    including equipment and supplies, and rules that govern these activities. Before finishing the
    session, there will be an overview of single audit preparation.

Rachel Werner is the the powerhouse behind RBW Strategy, a distinguished grants and fundraising consulting firm nestled in the heart of Washington, DC. As Owner and CEO, Rachel leads a team with an impressive 130 years of cumulative experience in grants and fundraising.

Together, they've orchestrated the successful raising of over $240 million and adeptly managed a staggering $2.5 billion in federal grant awards. Rachel herself boasts a Certificate in Grants Management, along with certifications as a Project Management Professional and a Certified Grants Professional.

Notably, she's also recognized as an Approved Trainer by the Grant Professionals Association. Rachel and her team are true trailblazers in the world of grants and fundraising consultancy.

Jasmine Markanday

Jasmine Markanday is a unique blend of a seasoned grant professional and a financial expert with over two decades of experience in the nonprofit sector. Her specialization in Federal grant readiness, research, writing, and management, coupled with her robust background as both an accountant and a consultant, has honed her deep expertise in grant compliance, particularly concerning 2 CFR 200 and Federal Administrative Regulations. Jasmine holds several esteemed certifications, including Certified Grants Management Specialist (CGMS), Grant Professional Certified (GPC), and Registered Product Owner (RPO). She is also an approved trainer by the Grant Professionals Association (GPA), further underscoring her proficiency and commitment to advancing the field of grants.

Fabrice J. Williams

Fabrice J. Williams is an experienced compliance officer, professional trainer,
independent consultant, and certified coach. She began her career as an Academic
Coordinator and Assistant Director for a federally and state funded, non-profit, youth
development organization that managed grant awards with the U.S. Department of
Education, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, AmeriCorps VISTA, and
the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. Williams is a seasoned expert in
the federal grants life cycle to ensure regulatory and administrative compliance. She
has over 18 years of experience in grants management, program development, adult
training and instruction, grant writing, program assessment, and grant administration.
Fabrice’s academic qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, cum laude,
from Shaw University (Raleigh, NC); postbaccalaureate studies at Duquesne University
(Pittsburgh, NC)’ and an earned master’s degree in family life and youth development,
with a concentration in administration from North Carolina State University (Raleigh,
NC).
